HOW TO FIND YOUR STYLE

he point of a theme isn't to cause tension between the couple involved but to bring both families together.

First of all, one must understand why a theme is important. Someone could go to a location, choose their favorite color and throw it on tables and napkins, hoping that it matches the fine china that they wanted to use.  The main problem is that it could clash and come off chaotic and disorganized.  The main purpose of a theme is to create a basis to center everything around: invites, bouquets, backdrops, centerpieces, anything and everything.

"The best way to find your style of event is to look at the big picture. Imagine your event."

  • Who is there?

  • How many people are there?

  • Where is it taking place? Is it a religious place? Maybe its indoor or outdoor?

  • What season is it? Is it hot or cold, that could determine location and clothing.

  • Are you close to home or at a destination?

  • How do you want it to feel? Laid back- formal- elegant? That will determine the route you will take.

GET CREATIVE!

A great way to get an idea of your style (what I did for my wedding) is to go to the library, and buy used bride magazines so that you're able to circle, cut and save things that you like. Then find consistency in your collection of saved pictures- whether it is a rustic country look, classic formal or a simply modern look.  According to Pretty Happy Love, there are six main styles.

  1. Vintage Boho: The vintage boho bridal style encompasses bridal style of eras past and mixes it with a laidback, modern vibe. Drawing inspiration from the beauty of nature and making it your own, the vintage boho bride has a one-of-a-kind style.

  2. Classic Prep: The classic prep bridal style plays on classic, family and wedding traditions, but with a personal touch. Simple silhouettes and traditional styling are a large part of the classic prep bridal style.

  3. Modern Minimalist: The modern minimalist bridal style is all about clean lines and simplicity. Less is more when it comes to the modern minimalist bridal style.

  4. Sexy Glam: The sexy glam bridal style is full of stunning, sparkling style and attention-grabbing details. Bold beading and dramatic cutouts lend itself perfectly to the sexy glam bridal style.

  5. Dream Princess: The dream princess bridal style is all about creating a fairytale moment. Feminine details, light fabric and dreamy silhouettes all bring the dream princess bridal style to life.

  6. Rustic Chic: The rustic chic bridal style ties romantic and natural details together effortlessly. Dreamy lace and soft silhouettes are the perfect addition to any rustic chic bridal style.

However, what if you and your significant other doesn't agree on the same style? What will you do? Let me tell you. You do both.

This is your wedding.

I married into a a very big Mexican and if you know anything about Mexicans is that their parties are very big and they party hard.  However, I came from a little country family. Thus, we combined both of our families with both cultures. Thus, we decided, together, on a rustic theme with Spanish flare. Does that work together? Some people would say no; but we made it work and it looked amazing! We had the ceremony and reception on my parents property with tacos for the main course and Jarritos for drinks. The point of a theme isn't to cause tension between the couple involved but to bring both families together.

There are many quizzes you can take online, but if you would like a personal option and help, I would love to help you find your style.
